Biography
Sergeant Norman Jackson of RAF Bomber Command was awarded the Victoria Cross for an extraordinary act of bravery. When his Lancaster was hit and caught fire over Germany, he climbed out onto the wing at 20,000 feet to try to extinguish the engine fire. Though shot and burned, he survived as a POW.
