Biography

Alice Grimshaw worked at the Avro aircraft factory in Chadderton, Manchester, helping to build Lancaster bombers. She worked on the fuselage assembly line, working 10-hour shifts six days a week. By the end of the war the factory had produced over 3,000 Lancasters — the backbone of Bomber Command.
