📍 Found among unclaimed effects at a naval veterans' home in Portsmouth, donated to Immortal Regiment UK in 2024
~1942-1945A Royal Navy rating in square rig uniform, photographed at what appears to be a fleet canteen or social venue. He is smiling broadly and appears to be in his early twenties. No cap tally is visible to identify his ship. A second man in the background appears to be wearing tropical whites, suggesting the photograph may have been taken overseas — possibly in Egypt, Ceylon, or the Far East. No identifying marks on the photograph.

📍 Discovered in the archives of the Royal Naval Hospital, Haslar, during renovation work in 2019

+ Submit Unknown SoldierA handwritten letter in Russian, addressed to "Dear Brother Kolya" from someone signing as "Your Sasha." The letter describes conditions at a military hospital in Britain and mentions recovering from wounds received "near Murmansk." The writer appears to be a Soviet sailor who was treated at a British naval hospital, possibly in Rosyth or Scapa Flow, during the Arctic convoy period. The letter is dated March 1943. We are looking for descendants of either "Kolya" or "Sasha" to return this letter.
