Biography
Leading Wren Winifred Grant served at the Admiralty's Western Approaches plotting room in Bristol, tracking convoy movements and U-boat positions across the Atlantic. Her meticulous plotting of submarine contacts helped naval commanders make critical decisions about convoy routing. During the Bristol Blitz of November 1940, she continued working through bombing raids that destroyed much of the city centre around her. After the war she became a geography teacher and brought her wartime map-reading experience into the classroom.
