Biography
Pilot Officer William Henry Foster flew Halifax bombers with 10 Squadron RAF from Leeming, Yorkshire. Over 1943-44 he completed 28 bombing missions over Germany before being shot down over the Ruhr on his 29th mission. He survived as a prisoner of war at Stalag Luft III but died of illness shortly after liberation in April 1945. His family had deep roots in the Bristol area.
