Biography

Flight Lieutenant William Hargreaves flew with the famous No. 617 Squadron RAF — the "Dambusters." Although he joined the squadron after the famous dams raid of 1943, he participated in numerous precision bombing missions, including attacks on V-weapon sites and the sinking of the battleship Tirpitz in November 1944. Hargreaves flew a Lancaster bomber and completed 32 operational sorties. Born in Bristol, he had worked as an apprentice at the Bristol Aeroplane Company before volunteering for the RAF. After the war, he returned to Bristol and spent his career in the aerospace industry, eventually working on the Concorde project.

Флайт-лейтенант Уильям Харгривз летал в составе знаменитой 617-й эскадрильи Королевских ВВС — «Разрушители плотин». Участвовал в потоплении линкора «Тирпиц» в ноябре 1944 года.
