Biography
Vera Kuzmina was just 17 when German forces occupied her village near Bryansk. She joined the local partisan brigade as a field nurse, treating wounded fighters in forest camps with almost no medical supplies. After liberation in 1943 she joined the regular Red Army medical service and served until Victory Day. Vera emigrated to the UK in the 1990s and lived in Leeds, where she shared her remarkable story with the local Russian-speaking community.

Вере Кузьминой было всего 17 лет, когда немецкие войска оккупировали её деревню под Брянском. Она вступила в местную партизанскую бригаду в качестве полевой медсестры, оказывая помощь раненым бойцам в лесных лагерях практически без медикаментов. После освобождения в 1943 году она перешла в регулярную медицинскую службу Красной армии и служила до Дня Победы. В 1990-х Вера эмигрировала в Великобританию и жила в Лидсе, где делилась своей удивительной историей с местным русскоязычным сообществом.
