Biography
Valerie Cook was recruited from Bristol at age 19 to work at Bletchley Park as a typist in the Naval Section. She typed the decrypted messages that were sent to the Admiralty as Ultra intelligence. She worked long shifts in the cramped conditions of Block B, handling some of the most sensitive information of the war. Like all Bletchley workers, she signed the Official Secrets Act and told nobody for thirty years.
