Ruzi Azimovich Azimov, 1925-2006, an Uzbek machine gunner of the 1124th Rifle Regiment in the 334th Rifle Division. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was conferred on him on 22 July 1944. He survived the war; he was also later a holder of the Order of Manas, a Kyrgyz award instituted after the Soviet Union.
