Biography
Sergeant Lydia Rose Pemberton served with the WAAF as a radar operator at fighter command stations in southern England during the Battle of Britain. She tracked incoming Luftwaffe raids and helped direct RAF fighter squadrons to intercept them. Her work was critical to the air defence system that won the Battle of Britain. She settled in Bristol after the war.
