Biography
Flight Sergeant Leroy Constantine came to Bristol from Trinidad in 1940 to join the RAF. As a wireless operator/air gunner on Lancaster bombers with 103 Squadron based at Elsham Wolds, he flew 32 missions over occupied Europe. He survived being shot down over the Netherlands in 1943 and evaded capture for three weeks before reaching Allied lines with the help of the Dutch resistance. He settled in Bristol after the war and became a prominent community leader.
