Biography
Corporal Jack Ninnis of No. 3 Commando was among the first Allied soldiers ashore on D-Day, landing on Sword Beach at 07:25 on 6 June 1944. His section fought through heavily defended positions to link up with airborne forces at Pegasus Bridge. He fought through the Normandy campaign, the advance through Belgium, and the crossing of the Rhine. After the war, Ninnis returned to Bristol where he worked as a dock foreman and became a founding member of the Bristol Commando Veterans' Association, keeping alive the memory of fallen comrades through annual commemorations.

Капрал Джек Ниннис из 3-го отряда коммандос был среди первых союзных солдат, высадившихся в День Д на пляже Сорд 6 июня 1944 года. Его отделение прорвалось через укреплённые позиции, чтобы соединиться с воздушно-десантными силами у моста Пегас. Он прошёл через всю Нормандскую кампанию, наступление через Бельгию и форсирование Рейна.
