Biography

Lance Corporal Henry Lewis was a stretcher bearer landing on Gold Beach on D-Day. Unarmed, he repeatedly crossed open ground under fire, personally carrying over 150 wounded men to safety during the Normandy campaign. Awarded the Military Medal. He lived in Bristol and volunteered with the Red Cross for 40 years.
