Biography

Captain Galina Stepanova served as a flight surgeon with the 16th Air Army, responsible for the medical fitness of fighter pilots and treating casualties at forward airfields. She was present during the Battle of Berlin, where her field hospital treated hundreds of wounded airmen. Galina emigrated to the UK in the late 1990s and lived in Bristol, where she volunteered with St John Ambulance, putting her medical skills to continued use in her adopted country.

Капитан медслужбы Галина Степанова была авиационным хирургом 16-й воздушной армии, ответственной за медицинскую годность лётчиков-истребителей. Она присутствовала при битве за Берлин, где её полевой госпиталь лечил сотни раненых авиаторов. Галина эмигрировала в Великобританию в конце 1990-х и жила в Бристоле, где работала волонтёром в службе скорой помощи Святого Иоанна.
