Biography
Senior Sergeant Yuri Popov served with the 2nd Guards Cavalry Corps, one of the last cavalry units to see major combat in modern warfare. During Operation Uranus — the encirclement of the German 6th Army at Stalingrad — his cavalry unit exploited the breakthrough, riding deep behind German lines to cut supply routes. Yuri settled in Birmingham in the 2000s.

Старший сержант Юрий Попов служил во 2-м гвардейском кавалерийском корпусе. Во время операции «Уран» — окружения немецкой 6-й армии под Сталинградом — его подразделение прорвалось в тыл. Поселился в Бирмингеме.
