Biography
Pilot Officer William Henry Thompson from Nottingham was a bomb aimer with RAF 617 Squadron — the famous "Dambusters." He took part in Operation Chastise on the night of 16–17 May 1943, the daring raid that breached the Möhne and Eder dams using Barnes Wallis's bouncing bombs. His Lancaster was shot down returning from the raid. He was 23 years old.

Лётчик-офицер Уильям Генри Томпсон из Ноттингема был бомбардиром 617-й эскадрильи ВВС — знаменитых «Разрушителей плотин». Участвовал в операции «Кара» в ночь на 17 мая 1943 года. Его «Ланкастер» был сбит при возвращении.
