Biography
Lance Corporal Walter Tull Jr, named after the famous WWI footballer-officer, grew up in Nottingham with a deep sense of duty to serve. Of mixed heritage, he enlisted in the Sherwood Foresters in 1941. He landed in Normandy in June 1944 and fought through France, Belgium, and Holland, including the crossing of the Rhine. He was wounded at Arnhem but recovered and served until VE Day. After the war, he became a schoolteacher in Nottingham and a vocal advocate for the recognition of Black British servicemen.

Младший капрал Уолтер Талл мл., названный в честь знаменитого футболиста-офицера Первой мировой войны, вырос в Ноттингеме. Смешанного происхождения, он записался в полк «Шервудских лесников» в 1941 году и прошёл от Нормандии до Рейна. После войны стал школьным учителем и активистом.
