Biography
Staff Sergeant Violet Chamberlain served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) with Anti-Aircraft Command in the Birmingham area. She was a height-finder operator, calculating altitude data for anti-aircraft batteries during Luftwaffe bombing raids on the industrial Midlands. Her unit helped defend the vital munitions factories of Birmingham during the Blitz. After the war she became a nurse at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and remained in Birmingham for the rest of her life.

Штаб-сержант Вайолет Чемберлен служила во Вспомогательной территориальной службе (ATS) в зенитном командовании в районе Бирмингема. Она была оператором высотомера, рассчитывая данные высоты для зенитных батарей во время бомбардировок Люфтваффе промышленных Мидлендов. Её подразделение помогало защищать жизненно важные оружейные заводы Бирмингема во время Блица. После войны стала медсестрой в больнице Королевы Елизаветы и осталась в Бирмингеме до конца жизни.
