Biography
Captain Viktor Ivanovich Korolev served in the 1st Guards Cavalry Corps, one of the last cavalry units to see major action in the war. His unit participated in deep raids behind German lines in Ukraine and Poland. He fought in the liberation of Warsaw and pursued the retreating Germans across Poland into Germany. He emigrated to Leeds in 1985 and worked as a veterinarian, maintaining his lifelong bond with horses.
