Biography
Captain Vikram Mehta was a medical officer from Bombay who studied at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford before the war. He served with the Indian Medical Service in Burma, treating wounded soldiers during the Kohima and Imphal battles — some of the fiercest fighting of the war. Working in forward dressing stations under constant Japanese fire, he saved hundreds of lives. After the war, he settled in Oxford and practiced medicine at the John Radcliffe Hospital for over thirty years.

Капитан Викрам Мехта был военным врачом из Бомбея, который учился в Рэдклиффской больнице в Оксфорде до войны. Он служил в Индийской медицинской службе в Бирме, оказывая помощь раненым солдатам во время сражений при Кохиме и Импхале — одних из самых ожесточённых боёв войны. Работая на передовых перевязочных пунктах под постоянным японским огнём, он спас сотни жизней. После войны обосновался в Оксфорде и практиковал медицину в больнице Джона Рэдклиффа более тридцати лет.
