Biography
Captain Tamara Grigorievna Novikova was a fighter pilot in the all-female 586th Fighter Aviation Regiment. She flew Yak-1 and Yak-9 fighters on air defence missions over Stalingrad and the Donbas region. She was credited with two personal and four shared aerial victories. After the war she became a flight instructor and emigrated to Brighton in 1997 to be near her granddaughter. She remained passionate about aviation until her final days.
