Biography
Private Roman Steklov (1919 – 31 March 1945) is buried at Leeds (Harehills) Cemetery, West Yorkshire, England — Section G, Grave 42.
During both World Wars, Britain served as an island fortress for Allied forces, with over 170,000 graves of service men and women across more than 12,000 cemeteries. Leeds held a major medical and rehabilitation centre for Yorkshire. Leeds (Harehills) Cemetery contains British Army graves from both wars; its 150 Second World War burials include three Allied nationals — among them Soviet soldier Roman Steklov.
