Biography
Lance Corporal Stefan Nowak served with the 1st Polish Armoured Division, which played a crucial role in closing the Falaise Pocket in August 1944, trapping a large portion of the German army in Normandy. Stefan was killed during the fierce fighting at Mont Ormel — known as the "Mace" — where the Poles held their position against desperate German breakout attempts despite being nearly surrounded themselves. His niece lives in Birmingham.

Младший капрал Стефан Новак служил в 1-й Польской бронетанковой дивизии, сыгравшей ключевую роль в закрытии Фалезского котла. Погиб в бою на Мон-Ормель в августе 1944 года.
