Biography
Stefan Kowalski escaped from occupied Poland via Romania and France to reach Britain in 1940. He joined No. 303 (Polish) Squadron — the highest-scoring RAF squadron during the Battle of Britain. He shot down four German aircraft during September 1940. He later flew bombing missions and was shot down over France but evaded capture. Unable to return to communist Poland, he settled in Oxford and taught mathematics.

Стефан Ковальский бежал из оккупированной Польши через Румынию и Францию. Присоединился к 303-й (Польской) эскадрилье — самой результативной в Битве за Британию. Сбил четыре немецких самолёта. Не имея возможности вернуться в коммунистическую Польшу, поселился в Оксфорде.
