Biography

Kapral Stanislaw Kowalczyk was a Polish soldier who fought with the 1st Polish Armoured Division under General Maczek. He participated in the Battle of the Falaise Gap and the liberation of Breda in the Netherlands. After the war, like many Polish soldiers, he could not return to communist Poland and settled in Nottingham, working in the textile industry. He was a founding member of the Nottingham Polish Ex-Combatants Association.

Капрал Станислав Ковальчик был польским солдатом, сражавшимся в 1-й Польской бронетанковой дивизии под командованием генерала Мачека. Участвовал в сражении у Фалезского котла и освобождении Бреды в Нидерландах. После войны, как и многие польские солдаты, не мог вернуться в коммунистическую Польшу и поселился в Ноттингеме, работая в текстильной промышленности. Был одним из основателей Ноттингемской ассоциации польских бывших комбатантов.
