Major Sergei Petrov was a fighter ace credited with 22 individual and 6 shared aerial victories. He flew the La-5 and La-7 fighters from Kursk to Berlin. After the war he trained as an engineer and worked in Soviet aviation until emigrating to Scotland in the 1990s. He settled in Glasgow where he was a regular attendee of Victory Day commemorations and shared his experiences with local schools.

Майор Сергей Петров — лётчик-ас, на счету которого 22 личные и 6 групповых воздушных побед. Он летал на истребителях Ла-5 и Ла-7 от Курска до Берлина. После войны получил инженерное образование и работал в советской авиации до эмиграции в Шотландию в 1990-х годах. Поселился в Глазго, где регулярно посещал мероприятия ко Дню Победы и делился своим опытом со школьниками.
