Biography

Semyon Davydovich Levin rose from private to lieutenant colonel during the war. He served in the 5th Guards Cavalry Corps, taking part in the Stalingrad counteroffensive and the liberation of Hungary and Austria. Known for his bravery in leading cavalry charges against entrenched positions, he was one of the most decorated officers in his regiment. After the war he taught military history in Odessa. He moved to Belfast in 1996.

Семён Давыдович Левин прошёл путь от рядового до подполковника за годы войны. Служил в 5-м гвардейском кавалерийском корпусе, участвовал в Сталинградском контрнаступлении и освобождении Венгрии и Австрии. Был известен храбростью в кавалерийских атаках. После войны преподавал военную историю в Одессе. Переехал в Белфаст в 1996 году.
