Biography
Sergeant Samuel Greenbaum served with the Jewish Brigade Group in Italy. Born in Whitechapel to a family that had fled pogroms in Russia, he fought against the Nazis as both a soldier and a Jew. After the war he helped organise the escape of Holocaust survivors to Palestine.
