Biography
Senior Lieutenant Rosa Kuzmina commanded a battery in the 1077th Anti-Aircraft Regiment — an all-female unit that defended Stalingrad against Luftwaffe attacks. During the German ground assault in August 1942, her unit was forced to engage German tanks at point-blank range, fighting as ground forces when no other defence was available. She survived the battle and served until the end of the war. She moved to Glasgow in 2004.
