Biography
Major Robert Thompson flew Horsa gliders into Normandy on D-Day. Glider pilots fought as infantry alongside the troops they delivered. He successfully landed near Pegasus Bridge on 6 June 1944. Killed at Arnhem during Operation Market Garden in September 1944. His family in Nottingham treasures his medals.
