Biography
Robert Green served with the Sherwood Foresters — Nottinghamshire's own regiment — in the Italian campaign. He fought at the crossing of the Sangro River and in the brutal fighting at Monte Cassino. Robert was killed in action during the fourth and final Battle of Cassino in May 1944, at the age of 28. He is buried at the Cassino War Cemetery in Italy. His family in Nottingham received his posthumous mentions in despatches and his medals. His name is inscribed on the Nottingham War Memorial in the city centre.

Роберт Грин служил в «Шервудских лесничих» — полку Ноттингемшира — в итальянской кампании. Он сражался при форсировании реки Сангро и в жестоких боях при Монте-Кассино. Роберт погиб в бою во время четвёртой битвы при Кассино в мае 1944 года в возрасте 28 лет. Он похоронен на военном кладбище Кассино в Италии.
