Biography
Lieutenant Colonel Paddy Mayne was one of the founding members of the SAS and its most decorated soldier. A former Irish rugby international from Belfast, he personally destroyed more enemy aircraft on the ground than any Allied pilot shot down in the air. He led SAS operations across North Africa, Italy, and Northwest Europe. His four DSOs remain a record, and many believe he should have received the Victoria Cross. He returned to Belfast after the war.
