Biography
Captain Richard Shaw was aboard HMS Repulse when she and HMS Prince of Wales were sunk by Japanese aircraft off Malaya on 10 December 1941 — just three days after Pearl Harbor. It was the first time capital ships were sunk by air attack while at sea. Richard was among the 513 men lost from Repulse. His son, who grew up in Brighton, submitted his story.

Капитан Ричард Шоу служил на «Рипалсе», потопленном японской авиацией у Малайи 10 декабря 1941 года. Впервые линейные корабли были потоплены авиацией в открытом море. Ричард погиб в числе 513 моряков.
