Biography

Sergeant Rhys Morgan served with the 160th (Welsh) Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, throughout the Mediterranean and European campaigns. Born in Swansea, he trained at Larkhill before deploying to North Africa in 1942. He fought at El Alamein, then through Sicily and up the Italian peninsula. In 1944 he transferred to France, participating in the advance through the Low Countries into Germany. Mentioned in Despatches for gallantry during the crossing of the Rhine, Morgan returned to Wales in 1946 and worked as a schoolteacher in Cardiff for 40 years.

Сержант Рис Морган служил в 160-м (Уэльском) полевом полку Королевской артиллерии на Средиземноморском и Европейском театрах военных действий. Родился в Суонси, прошёл подготовку в Ларкхилле перед отправкой в Северную Африку в 1942 году. Воевал при Эль-Аламейне, затем на Сицилии и по Апеннинскому полуострову. В 1944 году переведён во Францию, участвовал в наступлении через страны Бенилюкса в Германию. Упомянут в донесениях за храбрость при форсировании Рейна.
