Reginald Pascoe

Reginald Pascoe served as a DEMS gunner, one of the Royal Navy ratings assigned to man the defensive guns on merchant ships crossing the Atlantic. Over three years he served aboard seven different merchant vessels, surviving two torpedo attacks. The DEMS gunners occupied a unique position — Navy men on civilian ships — and their contribution was often overlooked. Reginald retired to Brighton where he was a regular at Remembrance Day services.
