Rajendra Singh

Rajendra Singh was an Indian lascar (sailor) who served in the British Merchant Navy throughout the war. He survived two torpedo attacks in the Atlantic and one in the Indian Ocean. Indian merchant sailors formed a significant portion of Britain's wartime merchant fleet, though their contribution has often been overlooked. After the war, Singh settled in the East End of London and worked in the docks until retirement.
