Biography
Colonel Pyotr Lebedev served in Soviet military intelligence, operating behind German lines to gather information on Wehrmacht troop movements and dispositions. His intelligence work contributed to the planning of several major Soviet offensives. After the war he pursued an academic career in mathematics, eventually becoming a professor at Moscow State University. He moved to Cambridge in the 1990s as a visiting scholar and remained, becoming part of the local academic community.

Полковник Пётр Лебедев служил в советской военной разведке, действуя за линией фронта для сбора информации о передвижении и расположении частей вермахта. Его разведывательная работа способствовала планированию нескольких крупных советских наступлений. После войны посвятил себя академической карьере в математике, став профессором МГУ. Переехал в Кембридж в 1990-х как приглашённый учёный и остался.
