Biography
Capitaine Pierre Dumont escaped France in 1940 and joined de Gaulle's Free French Forces in London. He served with the 2nd Armoured Division, landing in Normandy in August 1944 and taking part in the liberation of Paris. He was among the first Allied soldiers to reach the Hôtel de Ville. After the war, he took up an academic position at the University of Oxford, teaching French literature and history. He remained a staunch advocate for Franco-British friendship and the memory of those who fought for liberation.

Капитан Пьер Дюмон бежал из Франции в 1940 году и присоединился к Свободным Французским Силам де Голля. Он участвовал в освобождении Парижа. После войны преподавал французскую литературу в Оксфордском университете.
