Percy Langford

Percy Langford was a scholar at Magdalen College who enlisted in 1940 with the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He participated in the airborne assault on Pegasus Bridge on D-Day, one of the first actions of the Normandy invasion. His section secured the eastern flank of the bridge, enabling the main landings to proceed. He later fought through the Ardennes and across the Rhine. After the war, he returned to Oxford to complete his studies in Modern History and became a schoolteacher in Headington.
