Biography
Paddy McGuire was a foreman riveter at Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, which built and repaired warships throughout the war. The yard produced six aircraft carriers, two cruisers, and over 130 other vessels. Paddy worked gruelling shifts under the constant threat of German bombing — the yard was devastated in the Easter Tuesday raid of April 1941. He was awarded the BEM for maintaining production through the Blitz.
