Biography
Leading Seaman Owen Davies from Cardiff served aboard HMS Thorn, a T-class submarine operating in the Mediterranean. The submarine carried out successful patrols against Axis shipping lanes supplying Rommel's forces in North Africa. On 6 August 1943, HMS Thorn was depth-charged and sunk by the Italian corvette Cicogna south of Crete. All 64 crew members were lost. Owen's name is inscribed on the Plymouth Naval Memorial, one of over 7,000 submariners who have no known grave.

Старший матрос Оуэн Дейвис из Кардиффа служил на подводной лодке HMS Thorn в Средиземноморье. 6 августа 1943 года лодка была потоплена итальянским корветом. Все 64 члена экипажа погибли. Его имя выбито на Плимутском морском мемориале.
