Biography
Senior Sergeant Olga Ivanovna Sorokina served as a combat medic with the 1st Ukrainian Front. She treated wounded soldiers under fire from the Battle of Kursk through to the fall of Berlin. Soviet women medics served in the most dangerous conditions, crawling into no-man's land to retrieve wounded comrades. Olga was wounded twice but returned to service both times. She was awarded the Medal for Courage for rescuing twelve soldiers under heavy fire at the Dnieper crossing. After emigrating to the UK, she lived in Cardiff and was active in the Russian-speaking community.

Старший сержант Ольга Ивановна Сорокина служила боевым медиком на 1-м Украинском фронте. Она лечила раненых от Курской дуги до Берлина. За спасение двенадцати солдат при форсировании Днепра награждена медалью «За отвагу». Эмигрировала в Кардифф.
