Biography
Odette Hallowes was a French-born SOE agent who operated in occupied France as a courier for the "Spindle" network. Captured by the Gestapo in 1943, she endured prolonged torture but never revealed any information about her network.Sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp, she survived by claiming to be related to Winston Churchill. She was awarded the George Cross, the first woman to receive it while alive.
