Biography

Nina Volkova served as a frontline medic with the 62nd Army during the Battle of Stalingrad at age 17. She carried wounded soldiers from the ruins under constant bombardment and sniper fire. After the war, she married a British diplomat and moved to Glasgow in 1956. She became a beloved figure in the city's Russian-speaking community, sharing her extraordinary story at schools and memorial events.
