Biography
Nina Hargreaves was a mathematics graduate from Newnham College, Cambridge, recruited to Bletchley Park in 1942. Working in Hut 6 under Gordon Welchman, she helped break the German Army and Air Force Enigma ciphers. She specialized in "crib" analysis—finding predictable elements in encrypted messages that could be used to crack the daily settings. Her work remained classified for decades. She finally received an MBE in 2009, 64 years after the war ended.
