Biography
Captain Nikolai Petrovich Volkov fought with the 150th Rifle Division from Stalingrad to Berlin. He survived the brutal winter fighting at Stalingrad and marched west through Ukraine, Poland, and into Germany. His division was one of those that raised the Soviet flag over the Reichstag on 2 May 1945. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he moved to Edinburgh in 1993 to be with his daughter's family, spending his final years walking in the Pentland Hills.

Капитан Николай Петрович Волков воевал в составе 150-й стрелковой дивизии от Сталинграда до Берлина. Он пережил жестокие зимние бои под Сталинградом и прошёл на запад через Украину, Польшу и Германию. Его дивизия была одной из тех, что водрузили советский флаг над Рейхстагом 2 мая 1945 года. После распада Советского Союза переехал в Эдинбург в 1993 году к семье дочери.
