Biography
Mary McGuire was a teenager when the Belfast Blitz struck in April and May 1941. She immediately volunteered as an air raid warden, helping to rescue survivors from bombed buildings and guiding people to shelters. The Belfast Blitz killed over 900 people in just four nights. Mary continued her civil defence duties throughout the war and later trained as a nurse. She spent her career at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast and was recognised for her wartime service at the age of 90.

Мэри Макгвайр была подростком, когда Белфастский блиц обрушился в апреле и мае 1941 года. Она немедленно стала добровольным дежурным ПВО, помогая спасать выживших из разбомблённых зданий. Белфастский блиц унёс жизни более 900 человек всего за четыре ночи. Мэри продолжала выполнять обязанности гражданской обороны на протяжении всей войны и позже стала медсестрой в Королевской больнице Виктории в Белфасте.
