Biography
Private Mary Kathleen O'Connor from Belfast served with the ATS as a searchlight operator in the anti-aircraft defences of Belfast during the Belfast Blitz of April–May 1941. She operated searchlights that guided night fighters to intercept German bombers. Over 1,000 people were killed in the Belfast Blitz. She remained in Belfast after the war and was active in veterans' organisations.
