Biography
Captain Mary Edwards was a Special Operations Executive agent who parachuted into occupied France in 1943. Fluent in French and Russian, she organised supply drops for the Resistance and helped coordinate sabotage operations ahead of D-Day. She was captured by the Gestapo in April 1944 but escaped during a prisoner transport and reached Allied lines after the Normandy landings. After the war she worked at the Foreign Office in London.
