Mary Churchill-Spencer

Junior Commander Mary Churchill, Winston Churchill's youngest daughter, served with 481st Heavy Mixed Anti-Aircraft Battery which was stationed near Birmingham during the worst of the Blitz. She chose active service over a desk job, operating predictors and rangefinders during raids. Her battery later deployed to the Continent after D-Day, defending the port of Antwerp against V-1 flying bombs. She was one of the first ATS officers to enter liberated Brussels and later witnessed the liberation of several concentration camps.
